Mold Characteristics

The table below provides the characteristics of the various BSA wheels. The definitions of the columns are:
Important Note
Within each mold family, there are occasional bad wheels. This is mostly due to the manufacturer not allowing the molded wheels to cool sufficiently before mold removal. Always spin test each wheel, eliminating wheels with excess side-to-side wobble.

Notes on measurements:
  1. Measurements were made in June of 2017. Ten wheels from each mold were randomly selected from 1,900 wheels. The wheels were examined and the results averaged.

  2. In general, all of the BSA wheels continue to be good, although there were a few changes in ranking. Note that the difference between the Excellent, Good, and Okay ratings is just a few thousandths of an inch.
